An animation that brings the cooking tips of a dialysis patient to life.
With Luise Vormittag, Eva Afifah Rd and Savannah Bader.
In collaboration with UAL Central Saint Martins and Vital Arts.
Produced at Tate Exchange, Tate Modern, February 2017.
Patients on dialysis have a very restricted diet, which makes it difficult to prepare flavoursome meals.
People from ethnic minority groups are at greater risk of developing kidney
failure and yet there are no culturally diverse cookery books available.
This animation is part of a wider Vital Arts and Central Saint Martins’ project that
aims to create platforms to share the dispersed culinary knowledge of this diverse community.
The animation was produced over a weekend at Tate Exchange, where we also showcased
recipe cards created by the patient community at the Royal London Hospital,
and provided a friendly environment to exchange tips and ideas on flavoursome
meals within the limitations of a renal diet.
